Sigiriya & Dambulla

Sigiriya & Dambulla

Sigiriya once nominated as the 8th winder of the world and it is an ancient palace built on top of a huge rock which has been declared a world heritage by UNESCO. Dambulla also known as the Golden Rock Temple is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Sri Lanka for its richness of detailed 2nd century paintings drawn on the rock surface inside the cave complex. Sigiriya and Dambulla are situated in the centre of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle, approximately 25km from each other.

In Sigiriya, you find the world famous Lion’s Rock which is a 220m high rock with an astonishing feat of construction and engineering. And on top is built a magnificent fortress built by King Kashyapa. Dambulla is a substantial evidence for the fact that great caves in the central part had been residences to the Buddhist monks during Anuradhapura Kingdom.

Sigiriya and Dambulla Day Tour is on one hand a perfect adventure of rock climbing and witnessing of advanced technology and engineering, and on the other hand is an opportunity to explore the detailed paintings and magnificent lifestyles during the 2nd century AD.
